Opportunity Summary

The National Sales Manager will be responsible for both executing direct sales as well as creating an environment that develops an engaged team of Sales professionals for a privately held U.S. chemical manufacturing company that has been an innovator in the manufacturing of high quality industrial chemicals and lubricants for more than one hundred years. The company mission has been to provide products which meet the changing needs of their customers, and their product formulations have played key roles in emerging technologies throughout the company's history. Their custom formulated products are used in a broad range of industrial manufacturing companies that utilize machining and metalworking. The company culture is known for promoting high ethical standards, work-family balance, and maintaining a constant focus on quality, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Deliver Profitable Revenue Growth – Develop and execute a robust sales funnel for winning new distribution and growing existing accounts.  Meet or exceed gross margin targets, key account wins and new business development goals on an annual basis.  (35% of time will be spent in this area)
  • Customer Relationship Management – Build rapport with existing and prospective customers through regular site visits and ongoing communication.  Assist customers in problem solving, product training and delivering solutions that effectively sell the value of our products and relationships. (25% of time will be spent in this area)
  • Develop and Execute Annual Business Plans- Include short and long term sales forecasts for product lines, markets and customers.  Include market analysis, product and marketing recommendations for increasing market share. (15% of time will be spent in this area)
  • Lead and Mentor Inside and Outside Sales Team- Create an environment that develops an engaged team of sales professionals. Develop and track key sales metrics with sales team.  (15% of time will be spent in this area)
  • Maintain and Communicate Market and Product Knowledge – Stay abreast of market and competitive activity, competitive product developments and share this knowledge to help drive new product ideas, pricing decisions and sales/marketing tactics to win in the market place. (10% of time will be spent in this area)

Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in business or technical field that translates to skills in sales, business management, engineering or technical fields that could relate to our products and/or customer experiences)
  • Current Sales leadership experience and proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching, process management and people leadership skills.
  • Successful previous experience in a sales management role, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Industrial manufacturing product sales experience.
  • Experience in selling through distribution channels and direct to national accounts.
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.
  • Experience in training and trouble shooting customers on industrial related products.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and willingness to work throughout the value chain and functional rolls.
  • Experience in the utilization of customer centric selling skills such as prospecting and new account calls, collecting AR’s, avoidance of bad debts, development of a robust sales funnel.
